\"Garden of Bones\" is the fourth episode of the second season of Game of Thrones. It is the fourteenth episode of the series overall. It premiered on April 22, 2012 on HBO. It was written by Vanessa Taylor and directed by David Petrarca.
Did the humor seems off to anyone else tonight The tone was all over the map (much like our characters) and while many individual parts worked, this was my least favorite episode of the season so far. Perhaps my expectations were too high.
Here, the Waif stabs Arya in episode 7 of season 6 (The Broken Man). If you remember, Arya jumps into the freezing water to escape and crawls up the steps into the streets of Braavos. This is a very recognizable scene thanks to the stairs and we can attest to the fact that the water is absolutely freezing!
We'llstart at the end, as we got a lengthy uninterrupted segment set in Slavers Bay,with Daenerys experiencing one of the most pivotalmoments of her life as she traded one of her dragons for thousands of highlyskilled slave warriors. We learned a few things here. First, that the budgetfor this season must have been significantly upped, because that whole sequencelooked like something out of a big-budget film, not a show on HBO. From thesoldiers to the special effects to Dany's wig, everything looked amazing. Second, the viewers and the slave masters discoveredthat Daenerys can speak fluent Valyrian, which means she understood every word - and insult - thrown at her the previousthree episodes, and didn't so much as flinch. Andthird, the masters discovered that dragons are no man's slave. Dany did indeed trade her dragon for the Unsulliedwarriors, but a dragon does what it likes. After a quiet \"Dracarys\"from Dany, her biggest scaly baby torched the slavemaster head to heel and Dany led a revolt against allthe slave masters of Astapor. After the bloodybusiness Dany then freed all of her slave warriors, and asked which of these now-free men would willingly fight for her cause. Theyall agreed. So basically, Daenerys Taragryen just became fully awesome, and I suspect we'llall be seeing a lot of queen bitch Dany costumes comeHalloween this year.
Season 2 is the first to include the only woman credited for writing an episode on the show: Vanessa Taylor, who wrote two episodes this season and one in Season 3. This season cut the last's nudity numbers in half, but nearly doubled its numbers of onscreen death. Only one episode passed the Bechdel Test, and there were two instances of rape and attempted rape onscreen. Showrunners also double down an early theme of the show: living under the threat of sexual violence.
While Season 2 has less than half the number of rapes as Season 1, all of the first season's incidences of rape were depicted as \"cultural practices\" of the \"savage\" Dothraki. This is the first season in which we see rape in Westeros and how the writers weaponize its threat against viewers. Sansa, whose character arc serves as an inversion of the princess trope, consistently lives under the threat of rape (by Joffrey, The Hound, Littlefinger, etc). In Episode 6, the eldest Stark daughter is chased and trapped by rioters, who then attempt to rape her. The harrowing scene lasts roughly 51 seconds (compared to the 42 seconds of screentime devoted to her rape by Ramsay in Season 5). Sansa's story this season is intertwined with that of Shae, a clever and perceptive prostitute who becomes her handmaiden, protector, and friend. The only episode that passed the Bechdel Test this season includes a conversation between Shae and Sansa, who were playing a game to pass the time at the harbor.
HBO has dutifully posted the teaser trailer for Game of Thrones season 7 episode 4, 'The Spoils of War', minutes after episode 3 concluded, seeing Daenerys Targaryen in crisis following the sacking of Highgarden.
Here's what makes 2017 interesting: Game of Thrones won't be eligible this year; the majority of a show's season needs to have aired by the May 31 deadline to qualify for eligibility -- Game of Thrones won't even have started when nominations are announced. House of Cards got in just under the wire, dropping all of its episodes on May 30, but will Emmy voters have had a chance to watch it all Downton Abbey is over, and Mr. Robot's second season didn't deliver on its promise. Homeland and The Americans are still going strong, so at least one will definitely appear in the category, but the path is largely cleared for a new wave of dramas. 781b155fdc
