Windows 10X Feature Experience Pack released: What you need to know
Microsoft has released a new update for Windows 10X, the upcoming version of Windows 10 designed for dual-screen devices. The update is called Windows 10X Feature Experience Pack and it is part of Microsoft's new approach to deliver new features and improvements to Windows 10 outside of major feature updates.
The Windows 10X Feature Experience Pack is a bundle of features that are installed separately from the core operating system. This allows Microsoft to update them more frequently and independently from the OS. Some of the features included in the pack are a snipping tool, a text input panel, and some improvements to the touch keyboard and voice typing.
The update is available for Windows Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview Channels who are on the latest 21H1 or 20H2 releases of Windows 10. It is an optional update for Release Preview Channel users, but not for commercial devices that are Azure Active Directory-joined or running Windows 10 Enterprise edition. These devices will get the feature experience pack updates through monthly \"C\" preview releases that will be rolled up into monthly \"B\" releases.
To install the update, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. You should see an update named \"Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3740.0\". After installing it, you can check your experience version by going to Settings > System > About and scrolling down to \"Windows specifications\".
The Windows 10X Feature Experience Pack is part of Microsoft's effort to make Windows 10 more modular and flexible. By separating some features from the OS, Microsoft can deliver them faster and more reliably to users. However, the scope and frequency of these updates are still limited and Microsoft has not revealed much about how they will work in the future.
Windows 10X is expected to launch later this year as a new version of Windows 10 optimized for dual-screen and foldable devices like the Surface Neo. It will have a simplified and modern user interface, a new Start menu, and a new container-based architecture that will run Win32 apps in a secure and isolated environment.

It featured a new design that combined the quick actions and notifications into a single panel. It also had a brightness slider and media controls at the bottom. The quick actions were more like toggles that you can tap and hold to access additional options. For example, tapping and holding on the volume toggle would let you switch between audio outputs. The notifications were also more actionable, with buttons for replying or dismissing them.

It was a modern UWP app that replaced the legacy File Explorer on Windows 10. It had a simple interface that let you access your files stored on OneDrive, as well as any local files on your device. You could also plug in external storage devices and access them through the app. The app supported basic file management operations like creating folders, renaming files, copying and pasting, and sharing. It also had a dark mode and a search function.

It had fewer categories and options, focusing on the most essential settings for users. It also had a new design language that matched the rest of the OS, with rounded corners, colorful icons, and fluid animations. The Settings app also integrated some features that were previously part of the Control Panel, such as display settings, power options, and device manager. ec8f644aee
